FOOT & ANKLE

LEARN ABOUT YOUR PAIN, UNDERSTAND HOW YOU INJURED YOUR BODY, AND DISCOVER HOW OUR OFFICE CAN HELP. Problems are often over-treated with orthotics, whether pre-made or custom-casted. Understanding the role of the gluteus maximus in controlling lower limb positioning at heel strike during gait can significantly improve the restoration of proper biomechanical alignment and reduce foot and ankle issues.

Restoring proper biomechanical alignment effectively reduces foot and ankle problems.

At Dallmeyer, we assess the patient’s ability to engage the proper biomechanical support by evaluating the four major arches of the foot throughout the gait cycle. We also examine the rocker effect during walking and restore it in conjunction with the proper alignment of the calcaneus, talus, and tibia.

Too often, individuals with glute weakness and improper gait patterns develop a weight-bearing process that overactivates the peroneal muscles and fibula. This results in a loss of support for the foot’s main arches, distorts the rocker biomechanics, and can lead to various pain issues. It’s crucial to address this from both a biomechanical and myofascial release perspective before relying on supportive devices that may allow these dysfunctions to go uncorrected.
